My friend and i wrote a fanfiction about him teaming up with Peter and Shuri to enlarge the Lego Deathstar, which Shuri modified to Fly and shoot Lazers. As you can probably guess, it doesn't take long to go out of control and plummet towards New York. Fury is displeased.

The Line that Spider-Man gives when he says "When you can do the things I do, but you don't, and *THEN* the bad things happen, they happen because of you." Should be a win since it shows that Uncle Ben has been dead for a while and it was because Peter didn't stop the robber beforehand. And he still feels responsible.

“I don’t care. He killed my mom.” That hit me hard. He never ever has mentioned his mom when he talks about his parents. He brings up his dad but never his mom. I felt like THAT emotional barrier he has not come to terms because he loved her unconditionally while him and his dad had some bitter moments. Honestly at that point I knew Tony was going to do whatever he can to avenge his mom’s death. Logic and reason be damned, he killed his mom. Powerful stuff. Remember this is a comic book movie. The thing about that shield raise and cap disabling the arc reactor. ⚠️Falcon and the Winter soldier spoilers⚠️ John walker raised the shield that same way, but he went for the head. It's not sad, it's natural instincts. Whoever it is, no matter how much you know they won't kill you, if they come with an object to hit it at you your first instinct will be protecting your vital and exposed parts (in that case his head since the armor protected his heart/lungs, which would be the other main organs). Mainly because Cap had already went for the head twice to remove his helmet, so his instincts are more than justifiable.

Having recently watched the film again, I noticed something about the scene where the Winter soldier kills Tony's parents: as he picks up Howard Stark, Howard says "Sergeant Barnes?" which really changed the scene for me. The idea that someone else recognized Bucky who would be considered an old friend right before they got brutally killed was both a tragic betrayal and upsetting that Bucky didn't even realise it was Howard due to age so it didn't make any difference to the Winter soldier. That scene hits differently now

Jaar geleden

@The Master Yes, but he was only a handler, and still following someone else's orders, too. He just did it willingly, unlike Bucky. An order like that probably came from pretty high up, especially as the Winter Soldier wasn't used for just any mission. We don't know if Pierce was in charge at this point, or if someone else gave that order. Which means that they may well have gotten away with it, and retired to live out the rest of their days in luxury. They may even have been one/some of the people on Bucky's list in FATWS, but since that was dealt with offscreen (ugh, don't get me started on THAT) we'll probably never know.

@meg mur Also, Bucky didn't even remember who HE was, due to his brainwashing. Remember how close he came to killing Steve in Winter Soldier? The lights were on, but 'Bucky' definitely wasn't home. The Winter Soldier didn't know, or care, who either of them were. It's impossible to imagine what it would be like to remember actions that you had no control over at the time. As you said, Bucky wasn't particularly close to Howard during the war, but the memory of killing someone you knew, and seeing the pain you unwillingly caused their family, has to be immensely painful. The worst part is that the people who were actually responsible, the ones who gave the order to kill Howard and take the serum, probably got away with it all.

6 maanden geleden

@Mr_Earwig In addition, it also shows when cap drops his shield that he is leaving his identity behind. The shield was basically a representation of what he stood for originally when he was serving a government and a world that he stood for. But as was built up in winter soldier, he realizes that the people he was fighting for were the opposite of what he stood for. The dropping of the shield was the final confirmation. Tony Stark is a representation of part of the world he fought for, as he was the one who was supporting the system and accords. Cap is leaving the shield behind with Tony, because he is no longer protecting what he believes in.

Omg, i am tired of hearing this. Just because he had a big impact on the franchise dose not make Zemo a good villain. A proper villain has to have good motivations, goals, personality and most importantly, the character's plan has to make sense, and Zemo definitely had a convoluted plan that should not work what so ever and luck has everything to do with it and he barely has a personality. That's what people mean when they say he's a weak villain. If good villains had to with the impact on a movie or franchise then Lex Luthor is the best villain in a superhero movie we had in a long time.

@Siliziwe Ncanywa I mean him always being worthy is something the Russos and Wheedon would have to answer. But Steve keeping the secret is why civil war is such a big deal. It's the first time Steve put what he wanted over what everyone else wanted him to do. Him not signing the accords made sense considering what happened in winter soldier with SHIELD. Bucky being exposed was the nail in the coffin. Bucky was the one thing Steve always carried especially when he found out what happened to him. He lost Peggy and Bucky was the last link to his old life. Steve has always been a man out of time and the second he had an opportunity to go back he took it. It makes sense. He's only human and humans have flaws.

@meg mur I don't know where we are disagreeing or even if we are. My point is that I was surprised by Steve's underhanded-ness and all the trouble he went through and put the others through, without taking anyone into his confidence). And I am still shocked that fighting alongside both Howard and Tony was not enough for him to come clean. That is why I reject the notion completely that Steve was always worthy, because he started on this path from the end of TWS already. People who say he was were not paying attention and missed the huge continuity error in Steve's character, especially his now-evident, blatant hypocrisy in criticising heavily Tony and Bruce in AoU...

@Siliziwe Ncanywa of course he did. Howard realized what had happened and I think he would've understood. Bucky literally had worst case scenario happen to him as a soldier in war. I'd like to add on another win here if I may, that someone on tumblr pointed out! When Spiderman catches Bucky's metal arm, you'll notice his eyes widen, and he actually lets Peter speak rather than counter attack. In the MCU, where literally anything can catch Bucky's arm, that's not what he's surprised by; he's shocked that Peter is just a kid. He's never seen Pete's face, and this is the first time he's heard his voice. It may look like he's just standing there to wait for Falcon to come in, but in reality he's pausing for a moment to take account of the fact he's fighting an actual kid, a kid who should be in school and be doing his homework, not dealing in grown-up stuff like this. Bucky's always been one to stand up for the little guy, and now he's fighting the little guy.

@The Dork Knight Even though all of the people that were "holding back" on spiderman were all significantly weaker than him. Bucky at his full intent to kill wouldn't do shit to spiderman. If anything spiderman was holding back on them. He wasn't there to harm or kill people, he's just somebody trying to be in the big leagues and having fun with it. If spiderman was there to cause harm Bucky would be dead or lights out from a single punch. Cap too for that matter. Hell cap tries to smash him with the platform used to board people onto planes and he just casually catches it and holds it. Cap may have been holding back but Bucky certainly wasn't, he went for that punch full force and sure had it hit spiderman it would have probably hurt him, but this same spiderman has been directly hit full force with a bullet train and slept it off. At best he'd have been knocked for a loop for a moment but it wouldn't "harm" him. But that's saying Bucky can in theory even land a punch given we KNOW spiderman can catch a punch and he's also extremely fast, has spidey sense, and has unhuman reflexes and reaction time. He didn't bring him for psychological warfare he brought him because he watched a skinny kid catch a speeding car with his bare hands. Something that without technology or magic other than the hulk, none of the others can do. Holding back or not Bucky and cap were lucky spiderman didn't accidentally kill either of them. So I call bullshit on Tony saying "if he wanted to drop you, he would". Nothing they could or would have done would make a dent in spiderman.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEBODY ELSE TO NOTICE THIS!!!! If you go through the entire Airport Fight, it's obvious that the adult heroes held back significantly against Peter. Tony even calls it out in homecoming. The comments about his fascination and non-stop questions weren't pure frustration, they were concern. It's OBVIOUS that this is a kid who hasn't seen this level of confrontation before. They may be on opposite sides, but they wanna make sure this innocent goofball doesn't get himself killed. They want him to stay focused on the fight, not geeking out over them. That look on Bucky's face is a mixture of "Holy shit this skinny little twig caught my arm", and "HOLY SHIT WHY AM I FIGHTING A LITERAL CHILD?!?" I brought this up with a friend a while back, and we joked that that was Tony's plan the whole time, Send in the Pure Boi Child as psychological warfare.

Yeah no it’s surprise that this twig looking kid not only stopped his metallic arm and moved it. But that the kid did that thinking it was a normal arm right up til he caught it. Just imagine if spidey stopped his flesh arm with the same amount of force. He stopped out of sheer shock that this kid could easily take him out if he knew how. Also can we appreciate spidey for not only holding his own against two highly trained soldiers that are near Captain America’s level but only losing cause he can’t focus and is naive.

I just rewatched this movie and something I love is Peter’s reaction to Ant-Man becoming Giant-Man he just stares and says “Holy Shit!” like he has absolutely no idea how to even react to what he just saw. Also I forgot about this when watching homecoming but when Cap drops the jet bridge on Spider-Man and he lifts it off with minimal effort it actually explains how he is than strong enough to basically lift a building that Vulture drops on him off of himself in Homecoming.

@Noob7Zilla It could be because at that point in Tony's life he'd come from disliking his father and trying to avoid his shadow that he left behind with his passing to accepting him as an example to live up to after Iron Man 2. On the other hand, he's always looked at his mother as a loving parental figure that he could never spend another day with and has lost all connection to her after her death. To suddenly learn that your beloved mother was taken from you by an assassin's intervention instead of an accident has got to bring up a whirlwind of emotions with explosive consequences.

I like Visions "equation" because it's practically the same thing ultrun had been proposing: maybe the world would be better off without them? It's cool in particular because vision and Ultron are so different, but are able to come to some understandings, like the scene with Vis and the last ultron in the woods. Vision doesn't always agree, but he and ultron can somewhat understand each other, and now he is really, really really really subtly continuing Ultron's effect on them all: whether it be tony's conscious, or the battle in sokovia, or the whole point of Ultron being bad, It shows how he has just as much affect on the MCU as Loki, or thanos, or any other villain, even though I hear him get thrown under the bus in favor of other characters. Super cool

One of my favourite lines in the MCU is "I don't care, he killed my mom." Why? Because we know all about his relationship with his dad, we've been hearing about it since day one. All we've seen of his mum is her talking to him at the beginning in a hologram, but that one line tells you everything. It's not "my parents", it's not "my mum and dad". It's his mum, who was probably the only one (bar Pepper) who genuinely supported him without ulterior motive when he was growing up. Just... Urgh.... Gets me every time.

3 jaar geleden
Harleen Hufflepuff

Well and I think the bigger point is his mom was innocent. Howard Stark helped found S.H.I.E.L.D. and created weapons for a living. You could argue that he signed up for being a target of violent backlash. Maria Stark was just married to the guy and happened to be in the car when he was attacked. Tony understood why his dad was killed, even if he didn't like it. But Tony was already wrestling with accidentally killing innocents. Seeing Bucky kill his mother on purpose when she was completely innocent just made him snap.

@Olivia McDonagh Nah. You're the only brick wall here. You literally just keep telling me to grow up when you're the only one here with a childish mindset. Black Panther did chase Bucky around, yes. But did we ever get evidence that he was literally trying to kill him? No. Thor would definitely not kill someone like that either. He didn't even kill Loki. The man responsible for Frigga's death. Seriously don't tell anyone to grow up when you're here not even able to accept an opinion. That's something little kids do. I gave you my reasonings and you're just there saying "Na" basically. Also don't talk about his "spoon-fed relationship" with his mom. We're supposed to find that relatable? A relationship we barely even saw fleshed out? Nope. That's like Thor suddenly having a little brother that he deeply cares about established in one movie alone. Yeah, you buy that if you're a sheep, but people with actual common sense will question the validity of that.

Tbh, I would have more questions than just straight up get mad at cap and Bucky. His parents have been dead for a long, long time before he saw Bucky killed his parents. The fact Stark's father always talked about cap and saying how he was this guy who never lied and the ideal role model I can see hurting him since Cap knew all along and never told Stark. Also, Stark's give me a break line annoyed me so much. Sure he feels a lot of pressure but so does everyone else. He feels he's the only one and isolates himself that way which is straight selfish and should've been a sign to Cap he wasn't right in the mind. Stark said to everyone he was Iron man. He not only brought it onto himself, but his goal from the age of 16 was to create a shield around the earth. You can't be taking breaks if that's your goal. Hell, Cap drove the plane into the ice to save everyone in the world from atomic bombs. Cap said it best. All you can do is save as many lives as you can. In most situations, most doesn't mean all. It can be hard at times, but you have to look for the good in the bad. The lady at the beginning who told Stark about how he killed her son, how many more children would've been killed if they hadn't intervened? As for Ultron, yes Stark needs to live with the guilt, but again look at the bright side. Look at how potent Ultron was. He nearly killed all live on Earth within a few days he was "alive". Imagine if Ultron was given contingency plans and was unable to turn on the Earth? Thanos probably wouldn't have been able to get all the stones. Idk, I'm rambling on now

The reasoning for the two arguments makes sense when you consider the wars Tony and Cap remember. Tony might just about remember Vietnam and was present in Afganistan. I love how when this came out, so many people genuinely thought that the conflict of the movie would have no effect on the rest of the MCU but... Okay, Endgame came out 2 years ago now, I'm gonna spoil, deal with it. Thanos could have been stopped if they had resolved the issue sooner. If Vision and Wanda weren't meeting in secret, if Tony had been happy to call Cap, if they had been fighting together... Thanos could have been stopped. There is a reason Tony didn't go to The Garden at the beginning of Endgame. He was sick, yes, but he was furious. Without Civil War, the Avengers could have stopped Thanos. They stopped his armies once with 6 members, now they have well over a dozen, but none of them are working together.

Civil War is vital to the Infinity Saga. If Thanos faced Iron Man and Captain America united, with everyone at their backs, he wouldn't have stood a chance.
