Seeing so many people complain about how nothing happens in the first two episodes makes me realise that I might have been the only one who was just down to just watch a fun sitcom with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.

10 maanden geleden
strangefruit42

Anyone complaining about the first episodes simply hasn't understood the show. After RDJ being gone I was done with Marvel (never been much into superhero stuff), but was curious about the sitcom style thing. I was captured immediately by the sitcom setting, yet the mystery behind it. But it was the adorable innocence and irresistible charms of this couple, that sealed it for me. I wanted it to last sooo badly! More Wanda's nose scrunch, more Vision being adorably awkward. One year later I have a WandaVision 60s credits tattoo, having rewatched especially the first episodes countless times, and have a massive crush on Paul Bettany thanks to the gummed-up slapstick robot from episode 2.

Agatha was able to adapt and fit into each decade without being mind-controlled because as a 300+ year-old witch she actually lived through those time periods.

I think when Mr. Hart starts choking, Wanda is actually doing it. Subconsciously she is freaked out by the line of questioning. Reflexively she starts to choke him out - just like she does in the final episode to all the townspeople (including Ms. Hart) when confronted with the trauma she was causing. So at the dinner, when Ms. Hart is repeating, "Stop it," to Wanda, she isn't asking for Wanda to save her husband, she means for Wanda to stop killing him.

The early episodes were the best. The mystery there was excellent. The last episode, which devolved into a typical Marvel 3rd act mirror match cgi lightshow battle was the worst. It just didn't need that. Other reasons too. Though there were some excellent scenes in it too.

What I really love is Agnes saying she’s neighbors “... to the right - my right, not yours” means not only that WandaVision’s house is to the right of Agatha’s, but also that Agatha has the perspective of an outsider since her house is on Camera-Right while looking at the front of WV’s house.

i love how this show is pretty dark just looking at it on face value, but the deeper you look the worse it gets. Like how quicksilver says in the halloween episode "so, where were you keeping all these kids". As if Wanda was just keeping all the kids locked away in shut-down mode the whole time. And the people on the edge of the town just being on a short movement loop. WandaVision is by far the darkest part of the MCU so far. Especially when we realize that all the citizens of Westview are aware that they´re trapped.

I feel the more you watch it the sadder it gets, particularly her relationship with Vision. She created this to "get him back" but controls his every move, gaslights him when he deviates and actually doesn't spend that much time with him! He's at work (even on Saturdays) and away from her for most of the episodes. I was confused by how well he takes it but I suppose by the time he gets back to Wanda he is aware he isn't real. Absolutely heart-breaking when he asks if his kids will be okay.

@Rachel Grubman Also in their defense, as far as "generic superhero movie endings" go, it was less generic and/or more engaging than a lot of them. Sure it had not one but two of "the villain has the same powers as the hero" but Vision subverts a bit of expectations in classic Vision style in a similar callback to Voltron, and Wanda is confronted with many consequences of her actions and forced to make tough choices.

So, I know that a lot of people regarded Peters’ casting as “Fietro” as a bait-and-switch, but it was actually really clever. There was no other person Marvel could’ve cast that would’ve kept the audience wondering whether that Pietro was real or not. It carried on the mystery element that was so good in the beginning for just a couple more episodes. Not to mention it was done an episode after we get an outsider view of Westview— just when we think we’re one step ahead of the mystery and ahead of Wanda

Another win is that The “Hydra Soak” soap is also a Reference to the Agents of Shield Arc. Without spoiling anything, many of the Shield Agents lose their memories and are put in a different world much like Wanda Vision. @This exist so I can Comment whats wrong with her being the "bad guy" though? She made the wrong choice and did terrible things in her grief but by the end, she's come to an acceptance and accepted what she did was wrong, breaking free from her denial and shaping her as a more interesting and morally grey character with a shift in her perspective of herself and the world. It was a way more interesting path to take than good guy do "good thing" so character good. The world isn't black and white

@This exist so I can Comment I dont think Wanda is the real bad huy in this situation. Dont get me wrong, what she did was wrong and should not be taken lightly. But we've also got to understand the context on the situation. 1. She did not create the Hex purposefully and did not know the full extent of what she was doing. 2. She was in heavy grief at the time and was going through the stages of grief. Grief is a powerful thing and can make people do things they wouldnt do if they were in the right mindset. I mean, if you were in Wanda's shoes, in which you had lost your parents at the age of 10, lost your brother, lost your home, felt responsible for the deaths from the explosion during Civil War, lost what seemed like her only 2 real friends being Natasha and Cap during Endgame, and last but definitely the most impactful, having to kill your loved one only for said loved one to be brought back to be killed again. If I'm being honest I'm not sure I would even be able to take down the Hex just for the chance to have a small glimpse of a happy life if I went through everything Wanda went through. The whole show is about Wanda coming to terms with her grief and I personaly think they did a great job st that. 3. Once Wanda fully understood what she was doing to the people, the same people that she had managed to convince herself that she had made there lives better, she tried to close the Hex and only stopped when she saw what was happening to her family. Again, I'm not excusing what Wanda did as it was a horrible thing. But I can more than understand what she did and why she did it. Though, I do have a feeling that Westview is going to come back and bite Wanda in the ass in the near future. Agetha is still there and I dont think Marvel is done with her quite yet.

Actually the accent drop has everything to do with who she is trying to be. With the accent she is her embracing her traumatic past and the despair she grew up with. When she loses the accent, which she had by Civil War, She is pretending to be a normal westerner, and even when she was with Vision she still had the fake american accent in place. Its only when her wrath comes out does the original REAL wanda speak.

That makes sense. I mean there's that cliche in basically all media that when a character gets angry or irritated they begin slipping into their native tongues. Starting with the accent getting stronger and finishing with (depending on the context) screaming in your native tongue.

One way I see it is as a trilogy composed of three acts. Ep 1-3 for 1st Act. Ep 4-6 for 2nd Act. And Ep 7-9 for 3rd Act. So it could be three self-contained films across nine chapters.

The Salem witch court trialing began in February of 1692, although my great to the 7th grandfather had a catalogue during the 1680s describing the witch trails as going on now for 15 years. My great grandmother of 6 generations prior, had her trial start in 1672, but was thankfully avoided after reasoning, dying in 1701 of natural age. I have all of our lion heart documents from the Perkins family and court rulings printed first in 1689, then reprinted by the family in 1860 or so, and finally reprinted in 1956 of which I still have today, 62 pages of the booklet.

I seriously absolutely and totally LOVE this show. I think it may just be one of my favorite shows of all time. The composition of themes of trauma on display here really tug at my heart strings more than anything else. It's a beautiful journey through the emotions associated with grief and trauma adding much needed depth to characters that have largely been easily dismissed within the MCU as well as making me fall in love with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and their characters.

In the scene where the boss is choking on his dinner, I love the hidden meaning of the camera work. Until then, we’ve been seeing the show from the perspective of the scientists looking at their screen, but since this is a scene that Wanda would have cut out of her perfect sitcom life, and it wouldn’t be seen by the scientists, we’re now seeing from the omnipresent camera perspective, hence the slightly more modern framing of the shots.

@KazeAizen Exactly. I feel that laugh tracks, at least in most modern shows, are used somewhat excessively, since they're essentially conditioning tools to tell people what to laugh at. But most of the jokes they used them on in WandaVision actually felt appropriate - and the ones that didn't, it was clearly intentional. Having a live studio audience for episode 1 DEFINITELY was the right call.

STAyotter

@DL Uhh, stop, no, how it is better to remove months of someone's life after being the one that fucked them over? Also, it is something she can never atone for. All the families of the people in the town forgot them, everyone associated with them forgot them. She fucked the minds of so many people already she should stop trying to fix the mess she consciously and solely caused. I mean, no one does anything bad if we just give the affected people amnesia. How do you compensate for the months of their lives they'll never get back? How do you account for their financial standing which may be affected tremendously, social standings of all the people for those months that just stagnated, intellectual standings of all the lessons they could have made and talents they could have developed? There is no coming back, there isn't. She cannot be redeemed unless some cosmetic entity is shown to be behind it all, something literally possessed her. Other wise she created the social situation she is in, and the legal situation as well. We have laws behind kidnapping people, and he kidnapped am entire town and should be punished to the full extent of the law. She should not have fled, she is a coward and has learned nothing cause she is still trying to escape reality. She ran away from the issues caused by visions death, and now she is running away from the issues caused by her alone.

8 maanden geleden
DL
DL

@STAyotter Because... she made a horrible mistake that she admits to and apologizes for, and has set out to learn to control her powers and redeem herself? Let's not pretend like this fuck up isn't anything she can't recover from, because that's objectively not true (literally all it would take is erasing the bad memories of the people she's traumatized and using her powers to help expand their town, but that's just one example).
